  1. Hey man, so how do you like your 500w airboard? I've gotten mine about a week ago, but it arrived defective and broken out of the box. So I am still waiting to get it fixed. But it looks awesome...even though it doesnt work lol...

Hi, I did not have to wait very long for my board to arrive, it took about 7 days.

It looks like you got the same wheels as me, but mine are black color... I also got the black controller, I was hoping for the white one, but not a biggie for me. As far as functionality, I really have not had a chance to really ride mine yet, as in Finland we still have snow on the ground, and waiting for the gravel cleanup (the city sucks up all the gravel they sprinkled on the ground during the winter). But now the sun starting to come out and some roads near my house beginning to clear... but I have had no issues with syncing the controller and each time I have turned on the board to test in my basement (only about 100 meters in length) the board has run OK each time. I did test both the high speed mode of the motor (default setting from the gun controller) and slow speed and both work fine.

Regarding the look of the board, since I have the black wheels, it does have a very low profile look, and you can hardly tell it is an electric, especially with the black motor covering (from yours it looked like you got the one without the black covering?) so I am satisfied with the looks, but of course in the end, the main thing I am interested in is that the board runs and keeps running and that I don't have any issues with the trucks, battery, controller etc. But I have to say, so far, I have had no problems with mine and I look forward to riding as soon as the weather permits...

Unfortunately, I had to have back surgery this morning, but the doctor says I should be ready to roll in two weeks... I will post my ride experience after that... I have to say, the low profile battery is always my preference and I am happy to see more and more boards out there start to use the low profile look...

One note, when I got my board, there was a big page of paper with the warning that I should charge my board once every 20 days, so I probably would heed that advise if I were you ... if they warn you about something, it probably good to heed the advice :) I have done so ever since I got the board, even though I have not even really taken it more than 100 meter ride yet... Since my back probably won't be in shape totally for another month, I am going to rely on the electric skateboard and then I can switch off and on to my regular longboards...

For electric skateboard manufacturer's in general, I would make one request when you design these boards, is to have more longer boards 42"-46" and it would be nice to have more brand name or custom decks put on these boards... Although the deck on the ES 500 is fine, it has the words "Electric Skateboard" all over it and even a warning in text that says "This board should not be ridden in public roads" right on the deck itself... now I guess that is ok if it is illegal to ride where you are, but like in Spain, you can ride these boards legally and in some other places in europe also...and in California they are legal... so it is not nice to have the fuzz stop you and then if they look at the board, they see that big notice and they say, hey look, even the board says you should not ride it on public roads... But even that is not THAT big a deal, I don't plan to let the Fuzz catch me :peace:

I myself am willing to pay more for a custom or brand name deck, just speaking as a customer, not any kind of experienced board maker or anything.

Another note... One thing I do like on the board is the spray on grip coating as opposed to grip tape, but since I do not like those statements about the board not to be used on public roads, I would like to put different grip on the board, but not sure this could / should be done when you already have spray on grip tape... I could understand spray on grip tape if you have a brand name deck, like loaded or something....

I am soooo looking forward to riding though..... I hope you can get your board working soon... I do know that Andrew at ES is a stand-up guy and has been on this board for a long time and has helped a lot of people, so hopefully your issues are just temporary... I think it is fair to say that any board has potential for issues from time to time... I have had my metro-board have some issues with the remote and also sometimes some motor issues, but usually it was because I was the one who did not pay attention to how to use some feature of the board correctly.

Good thing on this forum is that we are all part of the bigger e-skate community and here to help each other out, and sometimes to hear each other rant and sometimes to marvel at some of the great custom boards that people have made (Julian that is kudos to your GECO ES 1000 man !)...

I just wish I was rich enough to get all the boards hehe...

    Cheers

    Dave

  2. I think I will need to buy them all and then when I die, I can have them buried with me and I can ride them all on perfect skating paths in the afterlife and ghost-haunt all the bad boards :)

    :)

p.s. Sometimes I like to ride my regular skateboard :)

  3.

Dave, did you get the abec 11 wheels? What size are the wheels? Any pics?

    Thanks

    Jeff

Hi Jeff, I posted a pic of the new ES board:

    http://www.elektro-skateboard.de/forum/bilder/es+air+500-179/es-air-500-1458.jpg

When I bough the wheels from ES uk website, I paid extra about 80 euros for the ABEC 11 wheels.. Now the website did say the picture was for illustration only, but they used the picture of the ABEC11 flywheel series, and this wheel that came with the board is black with no brand. I asked from ES about this and they told me that these are ABEC 11 compound, manufactured in China, but nonetheless are ABEC 11. -- according to ES... but really I do not know enough to tell whether these are ABEC 11 or not.. the size of the wheel is 94mm and I do not know the durometer of the wheel.

Maybe someone else who got the ABEC 11 from ES can comment if these are the real deal (compound at least)... I am really not sure... They seem nice because they are big, black and look like they will absorb the ride, but I cannot say yet how they ride as we still have lots of snow... hopefully though there will be enough snow melted this weekend I can take some small rides up and down the street to see ... :peace:

    Cheers :peace:

  4. Hi, did you say you got that board from local florida dealer? Those boards are sourced from China, but you can get parts at several dealers:

fastestelectricskateboard.co.uk (where I bought my ES -- You can order the parts online you need, but of course shipping more expensive from the UK than USA and also the currency exchange is not the best vs the dollar).

Neptune Skateboards - http://www.neptuneelectric.com.au (they are having same parts as it is same boards from China and shipping costs etc from Australia)

Direct from China (may require buying in bulk wholesale):

EZ Skates Ltd. http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/raldey#page4 (check here for contact details for EZ Skates)

Hope this helps and sorry to hear about your problems...no fun to have boards not working...

    Cheers :peace:

    Dave

  5. Hi, first let me say that I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your board, I am sure we all appreciate how much it sucks to want to go riding and the board not work

I remembered some post awhile back that someone had similar problems ?? Anyway, here is the link to that post:

    http://www.elektro-skateboard.de/forum/elektroskate-14/problems-elektroskate-es-600-sport-488.php

You might want to give that a read to see if there is anything there that can help. There are others here too that might have experienced that...I just got an ES500 board, but the battery is different, but I hope I do not run into this problem you have, it sounds like a real fun killer

  6. Hi all, I would like to start some project where elektro skateboarders are looking up their favourite skate spots in their own area, and reporting the google map coordinates so these can be indexed for others to use if they are in your area....

If anyone want to contribute to the project to get the awareness out there.... PM me and I give you more details.. the end result is some kind of search by country, state, town, zip etc and get video and media about some great skate spot for electric boards... also as mentioned by these boards, to get some good video and pics of great skate spots !

    Cheers

  7. Hi Jim and welcome to forum :peace:

I was really surprised seeing my ES 600 unboxing picture :D

    Cheers Beny :cornut:

I like your Deck on the ES 600... I wish I had one like that on my ES 500 instead of the Raldey deck.. sniff sniff... Also I wish they sent me the white controller...but I am going to put some white tape on my black one...I got those same wheels...but color came for me was black... I like the wheels though...

    cheers Dave

  8. Hei I get some new bearings soon anyway... I not worried, I always check board tight screws every time...

I prepare for Nordic elektro-skateboard:ing whoo hoo....a few weeks and then riding paradise.

    Dave

  9. Hey, I need these bearings also... I got one problem, my wheels need to all spin the same... I have problem not all my wheels spin the same...

I got like 3 weeks to go before I can stop riding the 200 meters in my building's basement until the sun melt the snow... so I get these ASAP..

  10. Hi all, I just wanted to give a good recommendation to the customer service of Andrew at Elektroskate. I have been working with him to get a new board delivered and there was some issues I faced in Customs here in Finland and without going into details, I just wanted to say that Andrew helped me out and helped me to have a quick resolution to a problem I was having, so thank you Andrew !!!!

I really appreciate it when a company does what they can to support their customers.

So a big thumbs up for Elektroskate customer service !!!!

    Cheers

  11. Hei all...

I know you dudes in Germany have a pretty cool skate event each year... it would be nice to arrange some kind of "World" skate event someday where we all could try to attend from different countries... I do not know if it be possible, but it would be cool...

Maybe someplace where Elektro-skating is OK with the fuzz...

What you think? Maybe it is just fun to think about it :)

    Cheers

    Dave

  12. Hi, well I am really not sure, maybe someone can comment, but it seems you should get at least 10-11 km range based on your weight and the board spec .. I noticed on their web site that the the board range is 18km with no load, I am not sure what that means, but maybe you should contact to skatey.nl and ask them about this...

For sure the more weight you can reduce with LiPo's + the extra amp-hours will help... I am sorry I cannot help very much here... I think this is a question for that store that sold you the board, since they should know how their boards perform. Maybe there is some issue with the electronics or battery connections or something....

There is a website also you could look into about battery things and ask questions, there is a lot of people who willing to help:

    http://visforvoltage.org/

    Cheers

    Dave

  13. Hi Bo, well first, let me say, that there are some others on this forum who know a hell of a lot more than me :)

But one thing that I think need to know about your board is, how much it weigh, including your own weight (so total riding weight) and the number of RPM (revolutions per minute).

Also, what is the diameter of your wheels ? I think you will get only approximation, but it help to know those things also to give you an estimate of total range if you switch to LiPo...

    Cheers

    Dave

  14. Hi Bo, yeah it is illegal to ride here in Finland also... but I have ridden several times in front of the cops here and they have not said anything to me yet... Actually in Finland, there is not a specific law that says they are illegal, but in Finland, anything that does not have a law that says it is legal...is illegal... I hope that changes someday... electric skateboarding is so much fun and great transportation...

I think if you do not ride like a maniac maybe they don't care so much... but here if they see you ride a Segway (which I hate segways ) they give you a ticket REAL FAST!

Have fun riding, I hope you can change those SLA batteries quickly to Lipo or something fast ! I have a couple of SLA boards and the experience for me is that the lithium batteries make the riding a lot more enjoyable...

    Cheers

    Dave

  15. Hi Bo, welcome !

There is a lot of really experienced electro-skaters on this board :) There is a lot of good comrades here :)

What brand board you have ? I bet NL is a great place to ride ..

    Cheers

  16. Hi Chrizz, I agree, it was good first impression on me also... I have the Metro-Board shortboard, and this looks like another great option to compare the models against.. now it seems there are three decent boards for lightweight and power to look at:

    1. Metro-Board

    2. ES-AIR 500

    3. Evolve Electric Pintail or Snubnose

I found it amazing that this board have so much power but only 200W motor... I think in Finland, that low motor would not even have any problems with the traffic cops giving you some tickets ! Those trucks on the Evolve board also look really wicked !

I am eager to see when these Evolve Boards go to production, so I can add one to my collection of boards...

Aside from that, now the Metro-Board for 2012 is selling their new boards with 600W motor and ABEC-11s are available from their online store....

    Cheers

    Dave from still snowy Helsinki
