Uses

Electric skateboards can be used for a variety of functions. Commonly fun is the biggest reason, but more and more adults are now using them as means for transportation. They are commonly compared to the segway.

Wired vs Wireless Controllers

There are two types of controllers used for electric skateboards, wired and wireless. There are advantages to both. Wireless provides more freedom of hand movement, while wired provides increase reliability and no-interference. Wireless controllers are subject to interference and can be influenced by outside radio frequencies from powerlines, phone poles, electric doors, and other RF transmissions.

History

In America The electronic skateboard was invented by Louis Finkle, the founder of Exkate, in Long Beach, CA. Finkle perfected the electric skateboard over the course of five years, using his own money.

Finkle's design included a wireless hand remote that operated using the rider's own body as the antenna on a very low frequency. This design is supposed to reduce radio frequency interference.
